Review of The Call

The Call is about our need for a revival. So, what exactly is a revival? I mean, you hear people bandying the word about as if’s the end all and be all. But exactly what is it? Do we need it? Is it for today or was it only something from yesterday, you know, days gone by? So let's look at a dictionary. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, it means:

Definition of revival

1 : an act or instance of reviving : the state of being revived: such as

a : renewed attention to or interest in something

b : a new presentation or publication of something old

c (1) : a period of renewed religious interest

(2) : an often highly emotional evangelistic meeting or series of meetings

2 : restoration of force, validity, or effect (as to a contract)

So then, when in reference to Christians, it means a renewed interest in Jesus. This is a good thing. People who are Christians are all too often ‘politically correct’ in both their thinking and speaking so they don’t often speak the truth. You can speak the truth in love. Remember, God loves the sinner, but hates the sin.

We do need a revival, both corporately as the church and as an individual Christian. The Call helps us to see the truth. As it stands now, we are often called (labelled) intolerant over a number of things. I think it’s time we went back to foundational teaching and brought the cross, the blood of Jesus and the truth back to the church and into our lives.

If you read this book, it may help you do just that. I would recommend this book to anyone who desires a closer, truer walk with Jesus.
